Ordering Custom Burl Wood Furniture

Ordering Custom Burl Wood Furniture – What to Expect

In a previous blog post Designing Custom Burl Wood Furniture, we talked about how to start designing your custom burl wood furniture. Today, we’d like to go over the next step in the process: placing an order.

Making a Purchase

Since all of our work is custom to the specifications of the customer’s desires, we require full payment. To make a purchase, call us at 707-826-9663 between 8 am and 4 pm PST, Monday-Friday. We can process credit card payments by phone, and we never save your financial information in order to keep it secure. You can also send a check by mail, or if you prefer, you can email us for information on paying by wire transfer or through PayPal. Once your transaction is complete, we will send you a receipt for your records. We will begin work on your order as soon as we receive payment in full.

The time it takes to process your order before shipping will depend on the amount of work required. Many factors can affect finishing time, from the number of orders we’re working on to unforeseen weather conditions. We’ll provide you with our best estimate and regular updates as we work on your project. Our staff is very dedicated and detail-oriented, and won’t send anything out until it’s perfect.

Shipping

We ship our redwood worldwide. We work with several shipping companies to ensure the lowest prices for our clients and get a significant discount which we pass directly on to you. Shipping is collect for most orders, and the shipping company will bill you directly at the time of delivery.  Let us know the piece you’re interested in and include your zip or postal code so we can provide a shipping quote. Please note that all quotes are approximate and are subject to change. Shipping rates will depend on several factors, including:

  • Weight of the piece.
  • Size – exceptionally long slabs may have an excessive length charge.
  • Residential or commercial address – small pieces can be shipped by ground to any address for about the same rate, but large pieces have to go by freight. The freight companies we work with have an additional charge for residential deliveries. You can save a little more on shipping by having your order shipped to a business address, or by picking it up yourself at the nearest freight hub.
  • Finish – our freight companies classify raw wood and finished furniture differently, and they ship for different rates.
  • International deliveries – there are often additional charges for various customs requirements when shipping internationally.
  • Lift gate services (for freight shipments) – if you don’t have the means to unload the shipment from the truck yourself, there will be a lift gate charge.

If you have any other questions, please contact us or visit our shipping information page.

Receiving and Assembling Your Custom Burl Wood Furniture

We’ll send you a tracking number when your order ships. When your piece is delivered, please check the outside of the package for damages prior to opening. In the rare event that your order was damaged in transit, be sure to document the damage with the shipping company before signing for delivery. Contact us immediately if damage has occurred during shipping. However, we cannot be held responsible for damaged orders that are not properly documented and promptly reported.  We securely package every piece we send out and do everything we can to minimize the risk of damage.

If you ordered a finished piece from us, you may need to assemble it when it arrives. Our tables ship with the base unassembled from the tabletop to keep shipping costs as low as possible and make the table easier to transport. We include all the hardware needed for assembling tables when required. If you have any questions about putting your new table together, don’t hesitate to ask.

Mantels, headboards, and other wall-mounted pieces do not usually include mounting hardware. The proper installation of these pieces depends heavily on the wall they’re being mounted against. We highly recommend you contact a local contractor if you have any questions about installing your mantel. Check out our mantel installation page or this guide to installing a floating mantel for more information, but please note that the methods outlined there might not apply in every case.

Thank You for Your Business!

We love hearing from our previous clients! When your burl wood furniture is set up, we encourage you to send us some pictures. Check out our blog post on maintaining and caring for redwood furniture for our recommendations to keep your table or mantel looking new.
