Steve Blanchard’s Redwood Carving
Steve Blanchard and Redwood Burl Inc. have been working with together for decades. Reason being, Steve Blanchard is a master at redwood carving, and all other types of wood custom carve work. He travels the world doing demonstrations. He the host of the TV show Saw Dogs which aired a few years back. Probably most known for his version of Itsyville – an entire whole town of tree houses he once built. In his craft, Steve uses a variety of ethically salvaged wood. Many of his custom carved tiny houses are built on giant redwood burls. The artist’s unique style of redwood carving and wood working makes him a unique and talented fit for our company’s friends.
Beginnings
Blanchard began carving with chainsaws approximately thirty years ago in Monterey, California. Steve takes ordinary stumps and carves them into absolutely magical masterpieces. Using redwood, claro walnut and juniper, as well as a variety of other woods, he strives to create carvings which blend well into their natural environment. His take on a tiny wood village, Itsyville is like a little piece of a forest, fairy town.
